Applying for Disability Benefits
Applying for disability benefits from the U.S. government is a separate step from applying for benefits from an employer or other agency. Be sure to fill out the disability report carefully and outline all physical and mental impairments. Do not exaggerate your educational level as this will make it harder to qualify for benefits. If your claim is denied, an appeal disability report should be filed with updated information on your medical condition.
Understanding Disability Benefits
There are several types of disability benefit programs, through private insurers and government programs. Three of the government disability programs include Social Security Disability, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Military Disability benefits. Each government program is designed to meet the needs of a different disabled population.
